How to use Voicethread for Global Youth Debates
Voicethread is the tool we use for asynchronous debating. It is important you learn how to manage this as the classroom teacher responsible for submitting each part of the debate. We encourage you to involve students in this management as well.

ONE Log in to your VoiceThread account. Your login to Voicethread MUST BE the teacher email that was used in the project application form--ONE account per school.
TWO Click on 'My Voice' to access the debate VoiceThread assigned to you and your students. (note, Voicethreads will also be sent via email as they are created) THREE Do not record on Slide 1 and 2. The Debate brackets tell which side of the argument your students are to present. Please Note - Both you and your students have been assigned to the current debate VoiceThread. Click the 'microphone' icon to record your side of the argument. FOUR The debate recordings start on Slide 3: Stage 1 - Proposition. See Debate Format and Debate Protocol for further instructions. The team that records the Proposition (Affirmative) #1 argument records first on this slide. The Opposition #1 (Negative) argument is recorded here as well. FIVE On Slide 4: Stage 2 - Proposition Proposition #2 and Opposition #2 record, in that order. SIX Slide 5: Stage 3 - Rebuttal. Use the Rebuttals slide to record the affirmative and negative rebuttals. SEVEN Slide 6: Judging. The judges will leave feedback on this slide. EIGHT All students will be able to leave feedback once the debate period closes. Permissions will be set so that all students can view and leave comments on the VoiceThreads. |
