Eva Brown is a teacher educator at Red River College in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She is a Flat Classroom Certified Teacher and a Microsoft Innovative Teacher.
Eva is continually seeking opportunities for her pre-service teachers to acquire skills to infuse technology and global education into the curriculum to prepare their students to be competitive in the global economy. Her pre-service teachers participate in the Flat Connections Project as lead teachers, expert advisors and judges. She demonstrates her passion as a lifelong learner and believes modelling is key to teaching. She recently completed the Emerging Technologies Certificate and is currently studying Chinese Mandarin to gain a better understanding of the importance of language learning and globalization. She has been an educator for more than 30 years and is currently pursuing an EdD in global and technology education.

She is a seasoned professional speaker, speech and debate coach, media-maker, author, online teacher, workshop leader, possibilities coach, enthusiastic promoter of ANYTHING increasing joy for learners of all ages and now . . . a digital storytelling guide and renown avatar educator who can be found teaching and learning in 3D worlds.

Marcia Alessi teaches middle school in Los Angeles, California. She earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction/technology and teaches math. Marcia has been involved in Flat Classroom Projects since 2008. Her student won first place in the NetGenEd Project with Dan Tapscott in 2009. Marcia has provided support for the Eracism and Global Youth Debate Projects since their inception, including judge training.
Marcia is a licensed attorney and practiced law for ten years in the civil litigation field. During law school, she participated on the mock trial team. Since that time, she has been involved as a judge in the selection of trial teams and in national law school mock trial competitions. Currently, she judges middle and high school mock trial competitions through the Constitutional Rights Foundation in Los Angeles. She has been teaching and coaching debate in middle school for eleven years.

Aaron Maurer, Instructional coach, works to flatten classroom walls and help students and teachers gain a broader perspective of the world. Aaron has worked in the field of gifted education as well as sixth grade teaching social studies, literature, and computer.
On top of the many duties as instructional coach, Aaron also operates two robotics teams and continues to push the envelope of bringing robotics into core classrooms. Currently, his major push in education has been to help educators and students realize their genius and passions to understand how they can contribute to society.

Julie Lindsay has led the way in global education and technology-infused connections and collaborations across six countries including Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Now based back in Australia as a consultant, presenter and workshop leader she is kept busy as Director of Learning Confluence Pty Ltd and Founder of Flat Connections.
Julie understands different global contexts and is able to bring opportunities to others through her passion for learning and ‘teacherpreneur’ approach. She is adept at designing and customizing learning experiences for all ages, including cutting edge events such as the groundbreaking Flat Connections Conference. Julie is completing her EdD with the University of Southern Queensland with a focus on facilitating positive social change through effective pedagogy for collaboration.
